Free polyamory dating sites: what you really get

Updated November 2026
Most polyamory dating sites and apps are free to download or sign up for, but the free tier usually limits something that matters, such as seeing who likes you, filtering by relationship style, or messaging without limits. Feeld, OkCupid and Bumble all let you match and chat without paying, while Polyamory Contacts is free to join; upgrades such as VIP are paid.
This page sets out what each service actually includes without paying, based only on that service's own help or pricing pages, checked in early November 2026. Where we could not confirm a free tier from the service itself, we have left it out rather than guess. Prices and features change, so check each service before you rely on it.
At a glance: what the free tiers include
| Service | Without paying | Needs a paid plan | Source checked |
|---|---|---|---|
| Polyamory Contacts | Free to join | Upgrades such as VIP and VIP Plus | Our pricing page |
| Feeld | Browse, connect, chat (including images and short videos), link partner profiles | Majestic: unlimited likes, Who Likes You, Incognito, private photos, extra filters | Feeld support pages |
| OkCupid | Send and receive Likes and Intros, view matches, chat | Unlimited likes and seeing who likes you (Premium tiers) | OkCupid Help Center |
| Bumble | Swipe, match and message, one Extend a day | Advanced Filters, Liked You, Boost, Premium and Premium+ | Bumble help pages |
Polyamory Contacts
Polyamory Contacts is built for polyamorous relationships, for singles, couples and polycules. Polyamory Contacts is free to join; upgrades such as VIP are paid. You can set out how your relationships work before you spend anything, then choose VIP or VIP Plus when you want more. Plans are listed publicly on the pricing page: for example, VIP for 1 week costs $19.99 and VIP Plus for 1 month costs $51.39, in US dollars. Memberships renew until you cancel, so note the renewal date when you buy.
Where paying is worth it: if you want to talk with polyamorous people who already understand your relationships, and especially if you are a couple, since one shared profile needs only one membership.
Feeld
According to Feeld's support pages, members who do not pay can browse profiles, connect, chat, share images and short videos in chat, and link their profile to partners. Majestic is Feeld's only paid membership. It adds unlimited likes, the ability to see who likes you, Incognito mode, Last Seen, seven days of history, private photos, one Ping a day, filters by desire and by recently online, and the option to undo a dislike.
Where paying is worth it: if you rely on filtering by desire, want to see who already likes you, or need Incognito for discretion. Each person buys Majestic separately, so a couple who both want it pays twice. Our Feeld comparison goes further.
OkCupid
OkCupid's Help Center says a free account can send and receive Likes and Intros, view matches and chat with them. Unlimited likes and seeing who likes you need a subscription. Basic is closed to new buyers, so the paid options are Premium, Premium Plus and Incognito. You can mark yourself as not seeking exclusivity, but each profile is for one person and joint couple profiles are not allowed.
Where paying is worth it: if you are getting plenty of likes and want to see them all. Many polyamorous daters on OkCupid find the bigger challenge is explaining polyamory to monogamous matches. See our OkCupid comparison.
Bumble
Bumble's help pages say swiping, matching and messaging cost nothing, and one Extend a day is included. Boost, Premium and Premium+ are paid. Bumble offers an intention badge for open relationship styles, but filtering on that badge needs Advanced Filters, which is part of Premium, as is the Liked You list.
Where paying is worth it: if you want to find other open or polyamorous people quickly, since without Advanced Filters you will be swiping through a largely monogamous pool. Our Bumble comparison has more.
Services we left out
We also looked at helloPOLY, #open, Taimi and 3Fun, which appear in our ranking of polyamorous dating apps. We could not confirm the details of their free tiers from their own help or pricing pages at the time of checking, so we have not described them here. If you are considering one of them, check the app store listing and the service's own help pages for the current position.
What free tiers usually limit
Across services, the pattern is similar. The free tier lets you get started, and the paid tier removes friction. The features most often reserved for paying members are:
- Seeing who likes you. Without it, you only meet people you happen to like back.
- Filters. For polyamorous daters, filtering by relationship style or desire is often the most useful paid feature.
- Volume. Daily limits on likes or messages.
- Privacy. Incognito or stealth modes that show your profile only to people you choose.
- Visibility. Boosts that show your profile to more people for a while.
When a free tier is enough
- You are curious and want to see who is nearby before committing.
- You live in a large city where many people already mark themselves as open or polyamorous.
- You mainly want to meet people in person and use the app to arrange it.
When paying is worth it
- You want to filter for polyamorous or open people rather than explain yourself to every match.
- You need discretion because you are not out to everyone.
- You are a couple and want one membership that covers you both.
- Your time is limited and you would rather talk with fewer, better-matched people.
Tips for paying sensibly
- Start with the shortest plan. A week or a month tells you whether a service suits you.
- Check renewal terms. Most plans renew automatically. Set a reminder before the renewal date.
- Check couple pricing. Some services charge per person; others let a couple share.
- Buy through the cheapest channel. Prices sometimes differ between the website and app stores.
- Read the profile before paying. Our app-choosing checklist and profile tips help you make the most of any service.
Staying safe on any site
Whatever you pay, safety habits matter more than features. Never send money to someone you have not met, meet in public first, and tell a friend where you are going. Our Trust & Safety guide has a full checklist.
